Grounded Calm was created to make evidence-based calming techniques accessible to everyone — for free, with no sign-ups, no ads, and no distractions. When you're having a panic attack or dissociating, the last thing you need is a cluttered website asking for your email.
Every technique on Grounded Calm is grounded in clinical practice. Our grounding exercises draw from established therapeutic frameworks. Our breathing techniques (box breathing, 4-7-8) are backed by research on vagus nerve activation and parasympathetic response. Our DBT skills (opposite action, TIPP) come directly from Dialectical Behavior Therapy as developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan.
We focus on techniques that are simple to learn, fast to apply, and effective during moments of distress. Each technique page includes clear step-by-step instructions, the science behind why it works, and practical tips for real-world use. We write for people in crisis, not for textbooks.
Anyone experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, dissociation, or overwhelming stress. Grounded Calm is not a replacement for professional mental health treatment — it's a toolkit for those moments when you need something right now.
Grounded Calm provides educational content only. It is not therapy, not medical advice, and not a substitute for professional help. If you're in crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or go to your nearest emergency room.
